Eiði has a good outlook for the
eclipse, and everyone is welcome to view the eclipse from the public viewing
spot at the harbor. Public toilets are available at the bottom of the village
by the church. Parking is available at the harbor, the new football pitch
and the old football pitch. Those wanting to view from Eiði Skollur should park
at the old football pitch. If you are parking at the old football patch, note
that access is via a narrow road, and traffic flow arrangements will be in
place on the day.
A private event organized by Dr Kate Russo of The Independent Traveller is being held at the Eiði School, in collaboration with and open to the citizens of Eiði and their friends. The BBC Stargazing Live team has chosen this event for their broadcast. This location is closed to the public until 11.30am, when it is then possible to join in on the celebrations with the Eiði community. A replay of the live UK broadcast may be played at 1pm.
