Pieces of Faroese culture - An interplay of light and darkness in an intriguing lighting design

For those of you visiting the Faroe Islands during the solar eclipse, we invite you to experience our rich culture by participating in a journey that will take you through some of our most important songs, poems, folklore and dances. Just like during the eclipse itself, the emphasis of our cultural journey is on darkness and light: over the course of the evening, we will cover themes ranging from the grave and sombre to the joyful and exuberant.

No person can survive on culture alone, and we therefore also invite you to sample some Faroese delicacies, including locally brewed beer. Faroese food currently enjoys significant international praise and interest due to its purity and simplicity. For the purposes of the Cultural Evening, the emphasis will be on the traditional.

The final part of the evening is interactive as it gives you an opportunity to participate in our traditional chain dance. Notwithstanding its ancient origins, the Faroese chain dance is very much a tradition that is alive and well. The only instruments are the voices of the participants, accompanied by the rhythmical stamping of feet. The dance is extremely social and no one is excluded. If you wish, you can join in.

Don't be left out in the dark - join us for this fantastic opportunity!
