Icelandic Mother Language Day

Iceland's Consulate General is the organizer of a cultural event
Icelandic Mother Language Day has been celebrated on November 16. in Iceland since 1996. It is the birthday of the national poet, Jónas Hallgrímsson (1807-1845) and is a Flag Day. This year the day is also celebrated in Faroe Islands with speeches, readings, music and a taste of traditional food. The General Consulate of Iceland arranges this event, admission is free and everyone is welcome.
